The Best Hotel in London for Families Traveling with Little Kids - St. Ermin’s Hotel, Autograph Collection

(Note: this is NOT a paid or affiliate post - we just genuinely LOVED this hotel and love to share when we find amazing hotels that cater to families traveling with children!)

What makes St. Ermin’s Hotel the best hotel for families traveling with kids in London?

After a bunch of google searching, asking ChatGPT AND reading countless reviews, I settled on the St. Ermin Hotel (which is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection) for a few reasons:

1.The VERY central location. We walked EVERYWHERE with 3 little kids (ages 3, 7 and 9) in tow and nothing we wanted to see was too far a walk!

In this map I created, you can see the incredibly central location of St. Ermin’s Hotel London in the Westminster area. I have put “hearts” on the map for all the locations we walked to with our 3 kids, including:

- Buckingham Palace

- St. James Park Playground

- Big Ben

- Westminster Abbey

- The Royal Mews

- The London Eye

- Hyde Park Playground (definitely the farthest walk, but still doable - about 30 minutes (we had a double stroller with us which helped!)

(Not hearted on the map but also walkable if you are up for a 25-30 minute walk: Carnaby Street, Shopping on Oxford/Regent Streets, Hamley’s Famous Toy Store!)

2. The amazing hotel room setup for families. The St. Ermin Hotel in London has “family rooms” that can sleep two adults and up to 3 children comfortably (and look great online).

Lucky for us, we were there for 2 weeknights in April and the hotel was not too busy, so upon check in we were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a suite (at no extra charge!) that gave us two connecting rooms.

The setup we had: One, 1-Bedroom Suite (King bed and attached living room) connected to a another room with a double bed. This room had 2 full bathrooms and the sitting room was VERY large - with a full dining room table and living room. They also provided a roll away bed that was setup in this room.

3. The Staff. Seriously, when I say the hospitality was next level here. I mean it. Every time we walked in the doors everyone from the doorman to the concierge was so friendly! My 3 year old even fell the one night as we were walking home from dinner and he was bleeding a little but on his knee so we needed a bandaid and 3 of the hotel staff came over to help us and even came out with a stuffed animal for him for being so brave!

What amenities does St. Ermin’s Hotel in London have that cater to families with little kids?

  1. Family-Oriented Rooms: The hotel offers spacious family rooms and suites with kid-friendly touches like teepees, toys, and books, creating a cozy environment for children to relax and play.

  2. Baby & Toddler Support: Families can travel light thanks to complimentary essentials such as cribs, high chairs, and bottle warmers, making it easy to care for little ones.

  3. Fun & Educational Activities: Unique experiences like the Bee Terrace (where kids can safely observe bees) and the "Spy for a Day" mission provide fun, educational adventures that keep children entertained and curious. They also have WWII memorabilia in the lobby (see the video below) that my kids loved looking at and talking about.

  4. Kid-Friendly Dining: With special children’s menus and themed afternoon teas like the “Buzzy Bees” tea, mealtimes are enjoyable for kids, offering healthy and appealing choices.

  5. Kids Concierge: The hotel’s dedicated concierge helps plan activities and excursions tailored to family interests, ensuring a smooth and fun-filled visit.

  6. Convenient Location: Proximity to iconic London attractions such as parks, museums, and toy stores means families have plenty of easy-to-reach options for outings.

Afternoon Tea

One of my favorite ways to soak up British culture is by indulging in a classic London afternoon tea—and there’s no better place to do it than at St. Ermin’s Hotel. I absolutely love how it’s served in such a relaxed yet stylish setting, surrounded by stunning original Rococo plasterwork that adds a touch of old-world charm. What really sets it apart, though, is the menu. Their afternoon tea features the most delicious selection of sweet and savory treats, all inspired by seasonal ingredients—many of which come straight from the hotel’s own rooftop kitchen garden. It’s the perfect blend of tradition and freshness, making the experience truly special.

Upgrade your experience: Enjoy Afternoon Tea with bottomless Champagne for just £62 per person.

Kid-Friendly: Yes, this is kid friendly and kids are only £24. You just must add them to the reservation ahead of time through a request when booking.

Hours available: Afternoon Tea is served daily in the Tea Lounge at St. Ermin's. Monday-Wednesday 12noon – 5.30pm and Thursday-Sunday 12noon – 6pm.

All teas are served with freshly baked scones, clotted cream, homemade jam and award-winning teas from The Tea Makers of London. Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten-Free Afternoon Tea is also available. You can book this experience by going to the St. Ermins website.
